Shillong Eco-Adventura Tour Services (SEATS)

Shillong Eco-Adventura Tour Services (SEATS) is a Shillong-based Tour Agency registered with the Govt of Meghalaya providing eco-tourism services to the tourists and environment enthusiasts alike. Meghalaya, a place where the cloud comes home, is one of the most beautiful states in North East India and offers beautiful sight, with its magnificent hills, gorges and valleys, lakes, caves and waterfalls which when combined with the beautiful clouds, give it a very serene, peaceful and mesmerising look. Meghalaya is currently seeing a huge influx of tourists who are keen in witnessing the incredible and spectacular Meghalaya. However, there are very few local tour services in the State and most of the tourists visit Meghalaya with packages offered by agencies from outside the State and this makes the tourists to missed out, on most of the beautiful tourist spots, where agencies from outside the State have no knowledge or care to take the tourists to these exotic locations. SEATS, is comprised of a number of local youth determine to give the tourists the best experience and the most beautiful memories to take away from Meghalaya. SEATS, was also established to promote Meghalaya Eco-Tourism with the following prime objectives:-

  1. To educate tourists to have a sense of social responsibility while travelling to natural areas and to respect the beautiful ambience and environment that surround us.
  2. To make people aware on the importance of ecological sustainability and conserving the environment.
  3. To offer tourists an insight into the impact of human beings on the environment and to foster a greater appreciation of our natural habitats.
  4. To impart upon the people the importance of improving the well-being and economy of the local communities, who are the actual protector and caretaker of the environment.

Some of the small initiatives taken to materialise the above objectives, are as under:-

  1. Attractive pamphlets informing our customers about the tourist spots they are visiting and the importance of preserving the natural habitats so that our future generations may experience destinations relatively untouched by human intervention.
  2. Our Customers will not be allowed to carry plastic bags and instead, they will be provided with disposable paper bags and other natural bags.
  3. Signatures collection campaign form/placard are being given to our customers to sign pledging against littering the tourist spots they are visiting.
  4. A special pamphlet will be distributed to all our customers on the importance of preserving and conserving our environment.
  5. Special Environment Awareness Campaign are being organised from one tourist spots to the other.

Tree Plantation and other related programmes are being organised to assist in afforestation and conserving our natural habitats.
