Itineraries

Day 1

Guwahati Airport – Shillong – Sightseeing

Meet & Greet on arrival at Guwahati Airport/Railway Station & transferred to hotel at Shillong. It’s a pleasant drive of around 3.5 hours to reach Shillong, a beautiful sylvan hill station covered with pine trees and located at an altitude of 1496 meters. The weather condition is very pleasant and pollution free. Its summers are cool and rainy, while its winters are cool and dry. Shillong is capital of Meghalaya and is also known as Scotland of the East. The British legacy is still visible in the architecture and food habits of the population. While on the way, drop by the Umiam Lake, which is the biggest artificial lake in the state of Meghalaya. The lake also represents the scenic beauty of the state which you will be going to explore here in the next few days. Check-in at the Hotel. Overnight stay in Shillong.

 

Day 2

Shillong City Tour

After breakfast, enjoy the City Tour of Shillong.  The scenic beauty of Shillong is showcased in the waterfalls, brooks, pine groves and garden that pepper the country side. The city offers dazzling tourist spots. The Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians is one of the most beautiful churches in Shillong. The city’s own Ward’s Lake is popular for short garden walks & boating. The Phan Nonglait Park (Lady Hydari Park) Park is a Japanese style landscaped park endowed with stretches of roses & exquisite flowers. The park also has a mini Zoo, which houses animals and many bird species like Jackal, Himalayan black bear, porcupine Leopard, hornbill, kite, mynah etc. The Botanical Garden offers plethora of indigenous and exotic plants & rare collection of orchids. One of the largest Golf courses in Asia is an 18-hole Golf Course is charted amidst a surging valley full of thick pine groves & rhododendron trees. The State Don-Bosco Museum for indigenous cultures is a modern museum dedicated to the culture and heritage of the seven sister States of North East India. 

Afternoon drive to Sohra (Cherrapunjee) - Shillong and its surrounding is dotted with splendid waterfalls cascading down deep valleys forming misty sparks as they break the silence of the surroundings. While on the way, visit Shillong Peak which offers a bird’s eye view of the entire city and valley. Elephant Falls which is a mountain stream gorging down two successive falls set in dells of fern covered rocks. The newly opened state-of-the art orchidarium in upper Shillong is home to 300 species of orchids. The Mawkdok Dympep Valley View point is one of the most prominent attractions of the place. Most Tourists get the first view of the Mawkdok Dympep Valley, which extends right up to Sohra, from this view point. Getting a clear view is a matter of chance as mostly it is obscured by clouds. Day 3

Sighting Seeing at Sohra (Cherrapunjee)

After breakfast, sightseeing in Sohra (Cherrapunjee). The locals traditionally call it Sohra. Once the wettest place on earth, Sohra today is the second rainiest place on earth after Mawsynram. Sohra in Meghalaya is one of the wettest places on the planet and the only place in India to receive rain throughout the year. The town of Sohra is nestled in the East Khasi Hills about 50 km southwest of the state’s capital, Shillong. Sohra, also known as Sohra or Churra, means ‘the land of oranges’. Sohra attracts lot of tourists because of its abundant natural beauty, package of valleys and waterfalls, caves and canyons, evergreen misty landscapes and heavy rains. The cliffs of Sohra also offer stunning views of the plains of Bangladesh. Visit to Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sister Falls (locally known as Nohsngithiang), Mawsmai Cave, Khoh Ramhah, Eco-park, Thankarang Park, Arwah Cave, Weisawdong Falls and Dainthlen Falls. Evening Drive to Shillong. Overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 4

Sohra (Cherrapunjee) to Guwahati Airport/ Railway Station

After Breakfast, travel back to Guwahati Airport /Station to board your flight/train for the return journey.

  • One Double room at all destinations on twin/ double or triple sharing basis.

  • Exclusive a/c vehicle at disposal for transfers & sightseeing as per itinerary.

  • Any additional expenses arising out of unforeseen circumstances beyond our control like cancellation / hike in fare, strike or any other natural calamities like landslides, road blockage, weather condition, sickness or any emergency evacuation expenses.
  • Liability for insurance against injury, accidents, damage to or loss of goods.
  • Any increase in taxes or fuel price, leading to increase in cost on surface transportation & land arrangements, which may come into effect prior to departure (unlikely to happen).
